I would at least get an 8600

The 8500GT is a good overclocker but go for the GDDR3 version.

Don't buy the 8500GT cause it's a real piece of trash.
As Cleeve showed in a article, a 8500GT performs worst than even a 6600GT, so if you buy a 8500GT you do a downgrade!
If you want an inexpensive upgrade go with 7600GT or 8600GT or X1650XT/Pro.
Good luck.

Yeah unless all you want to do is unlok HD video for a HTPC, i would try and scronge enough for a 8600, you will be able to play games and do more complex stuff. 8500 is really much of an upgrade.

Dont worry about video games. Go back to school and learn how to write a complete sentence. Learn punctuation and learn how to spell. Then worry about video games.

Only messing, but I must admit that I hate poor punctuation (read the book 'eats shoots and leaves' if you're a stickler for this, it's very funny) and when people use numbers in place of letters like U2 and m8.

BUT...

MrsBytch; did you mean Dont or Don't?
JT001; full stops are punctuation too.

Pot, kettle, black.

I just thought that as you were being a pedant, I'd be a pedant too (or should that be 2?).

There, I feel better now. Isn't this a hardware forum rather than an English grammar forum though?

In that case, I'm off.

;)
