I Have Vista Home Premium, I am trying to upgrade to Windows 7 Professional - I need Vista Business in order to upgrade to this version of Windows 7 and I don't want to do a clean install - any clue where I can get a trial version long enough to run upgrade to windows 7?

Firstly, there is no such thing as a Windows trial version, there have been beta and RC available for evaluation.
The fact that Microsoft give you 30 days to activate the product, does not make it a trial version, you have to buy it in order to install it and then you get time to set it up and activate it.
As you have found Vista Home Premium does not Qualify for an upgrade to W7 Profesional, if you have a full version of Windows XP laying about that you can install, all versions of XP qualify for any version upgrade to W7.
A clean install from XP is a must.
