first choice will be great.... but choose a p35 mobo... 7600gt beats the 8600gt.. (i forgot the link)

Actually they kinda run neck and neck but the OP said the 8600gts. The 8600gts is closer in speed to that of a 7900gs. I say go with an E4300 and if the savings are enough over the cpu's you were considering, get an 8800gts 320mb. You can get one for around $270 I think now.

The E4300 is a good choice. You can easily overclock it to 2.4Ghz or so on the stock Intel fan, giving you near E6600 performance. This lets you save some $$$ for the video card.

With the video card, if you can afford the extra cash, go for the 8800 GTS 320. Well worth the extra cash. Way faster than the 8600 GTS. I picked one up a while ago it runs all the games I play maxed out at 1680x1050 superbly. (Hitman Blood Money, C&C3, FEAR etc) :D Newegg shows the cheapest 8600 GTS starting at about $170, while the cheapest 8800 GTS 320 starts at about $260 (after MIR) or $270. It's about $90 -> $100 difference.

If you go with the 8800 make sure you check your PSU is good enough. Nvidia recommends at least a 400W unit that can supply 26A on the 12V rails.

yes e4300 can save you $$$ but the lower cache will make a huge difference in gaming... but if you overclock it more then you'll not note the difference

The standard Intel fan is adequate. If you want to overclock heavily or are really concerned about having a quite PC then a third-party fan is the way to go.
