hello I just wondering if somebody can help me in this concern i lost some
sounds in my start up windows log on xp play a sound when start ,also when
you browse in the internet explorer like a click,and when you download
something and the task is complete ....I was seraching all my pc for this
...my volume is ok ..my messenger is ok means play sounds notifications etc
...but whats is going on in my other sounds.....?..please help

Classic View
Sounds and Audio Devices applet
Sounds tab
Drop down menu set to Windows Default
Click OK

Well, did you make the changes and set it back to the Windows default? Did
the option stick? After you set it back did you open it again (the sounds
applet from the control panel) and was it set on default? Was it already set
on default?

Hello Galen thanks for all this help..let me tell you something I think I got
thsi problem since I installed a new media keyboard " Multimedia keyboard" or
maybe I am wrong..well anyway I followed your instrucctions but when I
selected "Windows default sheme" ..I click "Ok" and when I come back to
check my selection inthis sounds folder I noticed to the selection I did
didn"t stick and have a "default" select in that window....????.......what I
can do...? my messenger,have a sounds but my start up log on windows sound
and my web search sounds dissapeared...thanks...

I would try adding on manually - like the startup wav file and rebooting to
see if it sticks. If it does you may have to go ahead and make your own
custom sound settings by putting the correct sounds (or any you happen to
feel interested in) into the drop down menu box for each of the events in
question. However, a restore to a date/time prior to this change might be
effective as well.
