Windows 7 sound problems

Hello, My sound for my Windows 7 desktop is garbled and sometimes choppy. I install a new sound & video card (with drivers), I went thru the microsoft fix utility, but still no change. Any ideas?

ok, so you got new hardware, did you install the manufacturer drivers or the microsoft drivers that microsoft fix utility was able to find?

how old is your desktop?

Installed all the drivers, desktop is a barebone about 2 years old

does the motherboard have a built in audio chipset?

can you try pulling out your new sound card and testing if the built in works fine?

if yes, try reseating the new sound card

you didn't answer the other 2 questions...

if your drivers are installed properly (which I cannot verify obviously)

and if your only sound card is installed properly (hardware wise) and you're having a problem with audio, chances are you got a bad sound card.

This is the second sound card. Used to work with the original (built in) and still not workwith new one. Not getting any messages stating the the drivers are incorrectly installed. Taking it to a tech in the nieghborhood. Thanks I'll keep you posted

so the built-in sound card works fine? if yes, then your new card is clearly faulty.
