since i already have it on my hard drive will it just not boot with a different motherboard?

I think you shouldn't have any problems. You will have to uninstall any drivers for the old mobo and put the new drivers on though.

Some will boot with no problem, some won't. If it doesn't boot, you can use your OS disc to boot into the repair console and repair the install.

I always recommend doing a fresh install when changing out mobos. You can start getting into driver conflicts and flaky issues. You can back up your data, format, fresh install, and it'll wipe out all the cobwebs for your new board.
