Yesterday, I opened windows explorer and all I could see was one pane with the list of folders. There was no right pane which normally had been there to display the files within a folder. When I double click one of the folders nothing happens. If I open a folder then I can see it's contents. I have no clue what could have happened to cause this. Is there a way to return explorer to the two pane view??
Thanks in advance!

We are having a similar problem, but the solution from aford10 does not work in this situation. It isn't a question of the Explorer "Folder" list being on or off, it is that a single pane is ALL that appears. In other words, if you select the "Folders" as described, then those appear, but the normal "view" pane (on the right, where the folder contents normally appears) doesn't appear, it is all one solid window, which "switches" whenever you switch a view on, or off. You never get the vertical "split" window no matter which you choose (turn the "Folders" on, the file list goes away. Turn the "Folders" off, your file list comes back).

Download and reinstall IE8. It's free.
