Are they dropping the price even more?

Some prices, yes. These are the bin prices, wholesale lots of 1000, to the retailers. Retail prices will vary.

Damn. The Q6600 and E6850 for $266 are damn tempting. I need to convince myself that my E6300 is adequate, at least until I can get a Nehalem CPU next year.

Just saw these listed on ZipZoomFlt. The price on the E6750 looks pretty good.

I think they are out to make a few bucks before July 22nd - and all the e6X50's are out of stock

Even @ $198 that e6750 looks sweet - even sweeter @ $183 in July . . .

I would expect ZipZoomFly to start seling these 2 weeks before July 22nd, as it's usual for them. I'll wait a month or so after to see what the better Overclocker is. Or, heck 3.0ghz stock Core2 is pretty awesome!

as far as the e6750, why not just buy a good batch e6420 now with the same 8x multi and set your fsb to 333. wam, bam an e6750 almost a month and a half early. there is no guarantee that these e6x50s are going to o/c any better than our current e6x00/e6x20s.

Newbie questions, could somebody please answer:

What kind of speed difference should I expect from the QX6850 (3 GHz, 1333 fsb) compared to Q6600 (2.4 GHz, 1066 fsb)? Is it 25%, as in (3-2.4)/2.4, is it more, is it less? I don't intend to overclock. Just trying to decide if the speed difference is worth the additional cost.

What kind of RAM would make most sense for the QX6850 at stock?
What about the Q6600, is it DDR2-800?

Thanks!

the 6850 is nice, but the 6750? wtf, all it is basically is a regular core 2 duo overclocked to 1333 fsb, wtf is the big deal??
None that I see. At this point my e6300 is doing fine @ 3150MHz with a FSB of 1800. Who the F*** cares for the 1333. My only concern at this point is the quad. So I picked up a P35 mobo and I'm waiting till July. Intel has done this FSB crap on P4's, and it didn't impress me then either.

Those are NOT bin prices, I have confirmed those are the actuall price they would be selling for if they were in stock today. But they are not.

To the original poster: Didnt you answer your own question in the link you provided?

A) Those are Intels prices. Intel does not set the retail price. At most, they give a MSRP, Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price. Even were those prices only the MSRP, that is not the price the various retailers will all set. Additionally, it does not account for the various incentive and rebate programs Intel offers, thus allowing channel suppliers and thus retailers to sell the individual units at prices even lower than MSRP or bin.

B) Confirmed with whom?

C) You'll forgive me if I dont take your word for it, seeing as previously demonstrated accuracy involving numbers leaves something to be desired.

Dewd, Rich, Im really disapointed in you guys. Deliberately misleading this individual with those answers. Lies, all lies I tell you!

To the OP. The etailers atually get their products from the benificent hardware fairy. Who was immaculately conceived by the virtuously virginal AMD.

Guys We have a new contender for poster (no life loser) of the year!
This guy is averaging 51 posts per day!!! GET A LIFE!!

Well, when you put in that light, we can do tha same for you. We can sum up the vast majority of your posts in 1 comment: 'AMD rulz, Intel druulz, and if you dont agree with me, your wrong.' That about covers all your posts.

<<EDIT>> BTW, you obviously arent capable of simple mathmatics.

These e6x50's are going to be hot items. They feature the new g0 stepping, which so far has shown easy overclocking to 3.6ghz with 1.3ish volts, and 4ghz+ attainable on air even. That's why it's worth the wait over a good e6420 that'd do 3.6-3.8 with about 1.5v
