The first thing that sticks out is the CF'd 2900xt's. Have the drivers been tweaked enough to unleash their full potential? I'm not sure, somebody with more expertise will have to comment.

Also, what do you mean by 'at 4 megapixel resolution"? I have never heard anybody refer to game settings in those terms.

Best of luck!

Try running it on 1 vid card to see if it makes a difference.

I have a c2d e6420 @3.2ghz and an 8800GTS 320 and I run 1650x1080 full details with mild AA and I never drop below 30fps.

Also try updating your cat drivers for those cards. I think they just released another driver update. Also make sure the latest chipset drivers are installed.

A simple and dumb question I know, but do you have a 6 and 8 pin or 6 and 6 pin connected to each card?

As I remember ATI is or was trying to fix the drivers to better support c/f. There were at least a few games that would not run, or run really slow, so the new drivers might fix it.

turn off aa and af at ccc and the game settings. i dont know about af but aa in this game is non existent. use the registry tweak and put some addons for tweaks. but yeah what is the resolution again? because im thinking your running on 4000xS000mething

I'm sure he means he's running at the default resolution for the 30", 2560x1600. That's 4,096,000 pixels...

no wonder he is hitting the glass floor

yea i would recommend lowering the resolution to help it run smoothly. also, as ATIs drivers become more mature you should see increased frame rates, especially since you're running CF

Read here about static lighting in-game usage. Also in this review, the 2900's beat the SLI'd GTX's in lowest fps http://www.techreport.com/reviews/ [...] ex.x?pg=11 Again, in this bench, they disable dynamic lighting http://www.techreport.com/reviews/ [...] ex.x?pg=11 I hope thats your problem, as both the nVidia and the ATI solutions cant use it. These are all at max settings as well, so hope this helps

well now that my stalker problem has been resolved I have a new one. I was wondering how hot my video cards can actually handle.... because as my room temperature rose so did my video card temps.... they used to be 80 at full load now they're 90+ and I wanted to OC but not sure if it is safe. So exactly how much would people theorize on how much heat they can handle?

Oh well, they were a good read anywho

Not the same card, but my 1900xt512 goes to 90 at most. I know the 2900 runs hotter, but in CF, watch out. You may have to look at a better cooling solution. I know theres WC for the 2900s in cf

I was just about to say the latest STALKER patch greatly helps with the frame rates and more specifically optimizes the Nvidia cards from what I've read. I've been running it on a 7950 GT maxed out at 1280x960 and it looks pretty good

You may want to check this awesome mod too that increases both Quality and Performance of the game.(Actually you SHOULD use this! at least worked unbelievable for me as i`m playing the game at 1600x1200 with every single slide at max and never dropped under 25FPS :D )
Good luck!
