I just today installed a new 8800 gtx. The install itself went smoothly, but it is not getting along with my lcd monitor. The screen has a blur/ shake effect to it. The windows load screen / exit screen, system bios startup text, they all look crisp and clear. It's only when I'm actually in windows that it looks bad. Games also look fuzzy.
When I use the monitor's on screen setup (for adjusting brightness / contrast etc), it reports that the resolution is "1920 x 540" even though I have windows set at 1680 x 1050, the optimal resolution for the monitor. When I have the old video card in, the screen setup reports the proper resolution.
Vid card: evga 8800 gtx
Monitor : Sceptre x22wg
Cpu: amd x2 3800+
Mobo: Asus A8NE
Using a DVI video connection
Fixes I have tried:
Updateing Mobo/chipset drivers
Clearing old nvidia drivers, re installing latest ones
I am quite stumped, do you guys have any ideas? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I think is the DVI connection your using. I was using a VGA connection to a 26" westinghouse 720P TV and all was fine however changing to a DVI-HDMI it seems now that the screen and colors are a little to bright(when means there probably sharper) and for some wierd reason BF 2 wont load at all. all because i switched to HDMI!?
so anyway... check your DVI thinge, if you have a VGA laying around use it.
I have dug up a vga cable with one of those dvi/vga adapters. When I use the vga cable, everything looks okay. And the monitor's screen setup now properly reflects the destkop resolution. The problem is my monitor doesn't look as good in vga mode as it does in DVI. Was that way on the old card as well.
I guess my question is why are my vid card and monitor not getting along when hooked up with a dvi cable?
