I have a TT A2349 fan controller and temp display that goes into the 5.25" bay. It has 4 sensors that i placed around the case to get CPU, PSU, vid card and case temps. I have an 8800 GTs installed upsidedown with its fan facing the bottom of the case and i placed a temp sensor on the top of the card where all the of the microchips are and i'm not getting accurate readings from it as a result. It reports temps 10 C lower than reported by Nvidia control panel and Everest. My question is this, whats the best place to put that sensor to get the most accurate readings?
You will never get readings as high as the Nvidia panel as it uses a sensor in the gpu. The back of the board above the GPU is going to be the best place. Some heat is lost on the way through the board, but it should be the hottest place.
So let me see if i understand you correctly, i should place the sensor on the back of the motherboard above the GPU, not on the GPU itself? Right now its on top of it towards the back of the case away from the CPU fan.
Place the sensor as close to the GPU as possible. If the sensor tips are thin enough you can slide it between the gpu and the cooler or you can tape it on the backside of the card where the GPU is seated. Both of this will not give you an accurate readings as it is not the core but it will give you an idea. For more accurate readings you can use the Nvidia temp monitor.

back of the video card board. right over(backside) the gpu.
