Mozilla Firefox not updating bookmarks

I've recently come across a problem with Firefox where the new bookmarks I make don't appear in the drop down bookmarks menu. If I go to 'Organize Bookmarks...' menu in the drop down menu, then go to 'Bookmarks Menu', they show up there. The problem is that that list isn't updating to my bookmarks drop down menu.

Sounds like a corrupted profile. I'd export your bookmarks in HTML format, delete the file named places.sqlite in your Firefox profile folder, and then re-import your bookmarks from the HTML file. Note that this will destroy your browsing history which, unfortunately, can't be exported like bookmarks.
