i recently upgraded my old computer from a 6800le 128mb to a 256mb p.o.v 7800gs. I took all the correct checks and replaced the card. But now when i try to boot it up it gets past the bios fine until right before the splash screen for xp.
ive got vista in dual boot and it doesnt work in that either, The computer just blacks out and i loose signal.
So i then tried to put the old card back in, did that and now it doesnt even get into the post screen :S but if i put the 7800 in it goes into the bios etc fine. The bios detects everything properly and im not sure what it could be. The rest of my system specs are :
asus p4s800D motherboard
p4 presscott s478 @ 3.0ghz
1gb pc2100 ram
maxtor 160gb HDD
soundblaster 5.1 audio card
standard dvd-rw drive
450W e.z cool psu, 28A on the 12v rail
ive tried taking out all the un needed power connections so its just running the HD and the card but the same thing still happens.
plz any help would be greatly appreciated.
p.s. was thinking about formatting it? good idea or not? got all of my stuff backed up anyways.

Flip the power switch on the PSU or unplug the system for a minute or so. Then try booting with either card to see if that makes a difference. If it does your PSU is dodgy.
Hi i've tried with both cards and it now seems like the hard drive is buggerd , it detects it in the bios but when i try to install xp it does not find the hard drive . So i tried installing the Raid drivers , by pressing F6 , i put them on the the floppy from the mother boad but now get this error when xp tries to get the off the drive
