I've just spoken to a member of my family about an email he's received from my late father-in-law. My father-in-law died just over three years ago, but it seems that people in his old email address book have started to receive emails from his old account.
I'm wondering how this could have occured since no one has used that email account in over three years, so the likelyhood of someone using spyware to get hold of the account details isn't that great.
Aside from the shock and obvious distress this might cause to some people, I'm curious how this has happened and what I can do about it.
If you still can access the email account, access it and disabled the account - You can also go to court for that and have that email client (e.g. yahoo...) disabled that account for good - you need the death certificate for the court.
