Differences from 1.8 Ghz to 2.4 Ghz???

I was thinking of getting a new laptop(the most I've ever had was 1.5 Ghz), and I wanted to get a good Core 2 Duo. I might game some(I'll be using an 8600 GTS possibly), but I mainly do internet browsing. I want it to be a fairly fast computer that just doesn't freeze or mess up on you.

For Core 2 Duo, how much is the difference between 1.8 Ghz and 2.4 Ghz? I know it's huge, but how much better would something like 2.0 Ghz or 2.13 Ghz be? The price difference is SO HUGE, I just need to know if it's worth it. Could 1.8 Ghz satisfy most of your needs?

With this CPU, you'll notice no difference just browsing. Gaming won't be too disimilar either but there will be a difference - you may not notice it though as the 8600 will be the first limiting factor.

Well the reason it might be an 8600 GTS is because I might get this barebone laptop called an ASUS C90, and I have to choose from CPU ranging from 1.8 to 2.4. What's the difference between 2 and 2.13, or 1.8 and 1.86? It's VERY expensive in this difference.

So if I don't get an advanced graphics card and don't game that much, then basically 1.8 will be PERFECT?

If you don't do anything more advanced than internet browsing, pretty much any CPU will work. A dual core CPU like a Core 2 will make the system more responsive. Make sure you get plenty of RAM. 1GB is good for general use on XP. Can't speak for Vista as I have no experience with it yet.
