Zoo tycoon 2 help

I need help with my Zoo Tycoon 2: Ultimate Edition. I have the orginal ZT2, and liked it so much, that I decided to get the UE. Unfortunately, I'm having trouble opening it. I followed the instructions to load it exactly, and the first time, I was able to open it, but as soon as I clicked at all, it closed. Nothing else happened. I did this several times, and it did the same thing. Just closed without warning as soon as i clicked at all.

So I decided to unload it and try it again. Now it won't even open. I have to go into My Computer and click Autorun to get it going, and it'll have the opening screen that says "Play". I click that, and then nothing else happens. If anything, it'll say "Please insert Disk 1 and restart application", which Disk 1 is already in there. Even if I do take it out, and reinsert it, nothing happens!

PLEASE i need help with this; i saved for ever so long to get this, and now it's a HUGE waste of money, and I cannot afford this. And of course you can't return them. I am very very disappointed, as I thought the orginal was AWESOME.
