A few weeks ago I noticed that my search feature in the start up menu was not working. I thought nothing of it and thought it would reset itself after shutting down and rebooting. It is still not working. Same thing if I type Windows key + F. I can search from My Computer but I noticed that even those results are incomplete. How can I restore this function. My OS is Vista.

You may want to try rebuild the indexer.

Got the same answer from another forum but it has nothing to do with the indexing, when I click on search nothing pops up. There is no search function at all. That is what needs to be restored first before I worry about indexing.

Have you tried it?

If the indexer is messed up, it's not going to be able to find any results.

Yes, I have tried it. In fact another forom gave me links to do a bunch of stuff concerning indexing but I've tried them all and nother works. I have having a number of other problems crop up so I think I am going to wipe my drive clean and start from scratch. A lot of work but it should fix all of the problems I am having.
