I just installed the netgear adapter and when I try to install the drivers. Windows Vista replies "The required line is not found in the INF." What should I do?

Try downloading the drivers online, just make sure they're Vista compatible. It looks like you may have a corrupted / incompatible driver file (the .inf).

*edit*
Actually... just looking around while typing this post, I found this:

I as well can not install my Netgear FA310TX Fast Ethernet PCI Adapter.
I tried the most recent XP driver and it does NOT work.
It states that "The required line was not found in the INF."

Looks like it may no be compatible with Vista. :s

Here is the support page for your card: http://kbserver.netgear.com/products/FA310TX.asp

Alright, thanks. Are there any Ethernet adapters you could recommend?

I just got the card to work on Windows 7 and the directions were for server 2003. Should work in Vista using this method. You need two files and then do a manual driver install from device manager.
Directions.

I got the file ngrpci.inf
http://www.smartergeek.com/uploads [...] ngrpci.zip

Join this yahoo group and in the files section find the file "ngrpci.sys"

I did not trust their copy of the .inf because it is larger than the smartergeek.com one and the poster has a hidden profile. Do whatever you want.

Good luck.
