Hi, i wanted to tell people about the story of my Maxtor hard drive since i don't believe that i'm the only one who has ever got a raw hard drive partition.
Short Story: I installed a heat sink and bumped the hard drive into the case and it showed up a raw partition upon boot up. I recover all my data with the software GetDataBack and was wondering what other software would recover raw partition data?
Long Story: It all started when i got concern about my hard drive's temperature and like any sane computer enthusiast i scoured the internet for softwares. After the hunt i found several softwares that seems useful but after testing them they keep beeping and warning me about the abnormally high temperature of my hard drives. That got me worried so i again did a hunt for hard drive coolers. A day later and with $10 spent i got one of those rectangle 2 fan aluminum heat sink. The installation was quick and easy but since it added several millimeters to the base, i can no longer screw the hard drive back into it's former place. So i padded the sides of the hard drive so it would be firmly in place without the screws... Since the padding was firm i had to really push the hard drive through and bang the hard drive hit the rear. I thought nothing of it and started the pc. Dum dum dum The hard drive showed up with a raw partition. T_T I got frantic and searched the internet but it rarely show me anything but commercial software and i did try a loooot of them but most are too complicated or just crap. I even tried different os but they were all the same. I was about to give up and just format the drive but i found a review on this software named GetDataBack. Without anything to lose i installed it and there was a OMG moment the software reviewed all the files in the hard drive. It was amazing. I extracted everything and formated the drive and now i'm using it. I was wondering if there are any other software like that one which recovers data from raw partitions?
TestDisk is free, it finds your files but with wrong files names/no structure and lots of little bits n pieces along with full files. After hair pulling for a while like this I found a nice app, it costs $ but works perfectly and there are trial etc, I got older version 3.0 .. Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery - double click on either drive or logical partition and choose simple or advanced mode (advanced in your case) ..
