Looking for a way to backup POP3 email which saves remote content

Hi, I've tried Mozilla Thunderbird, MailStore Home, Opera Mail and Eudora without any success.

I'm trying to backup a web based email account with about 500 messages. Thunderbird and MailStore work great but they do not save remote content (namely images). I will be very grateful if someone can suggest a program that is both freeware (preferably nothing from MS) and can save remote content locally.

Thanks in advance,

Can't do that, if the image is linked to a remote server you will need to edit each message, repoint the image to a local drive, and save that image to that location.

For 500 messages ? That's days of work...
I find it hard to believe that there is no way to achieve what I want by automation, surely I'm not the only one who's looking for this feature, am I ?
