If a tree falls in a forest and no one hears it did it make a sound?

On the central coast of California-or elsewhere- if the cheapskate rube
local broadcasters do not carry the FOX HDTV signal was the Superbowl
actually broadcast in HDTV?

Yes it was. My cable company does not carry Fox HD so I picked it up
in the over the air broadcast and the quality was great.

If the tree falls in the forest and no one hears it, it does not make a
sound. But it still sends waves through the air. Likewise, the Superbowl
was broadcast in HDTV, whether anyone received it that way or not. (I did.
It looked great.)

If no one hears it, it's not a sound. The air is moving back and forth but
without a hearing device (like an ear), it's just moving air.
