I'm trying to demonstrate the fixmbr command to my class in a lab segment. Is there a way to manually corrupt my MBR so it is still recoverable with the fixmbr command in xp recovery console?

You can use a disk editor. Just make sure you study the layout of it first, so you only touch the bootstrap code (which is the part fixmbr fixes).
