HEy all

I am just about to sell one on my external Hard drive and i was wonmdering is there some kinda of app that will clean it so files cant be restored ?

When i pass on or sell a computer i nuke it with DBAN IT IS AWESOME!

You can recover files more easily when done with just windows compared to DBAN!

search for shreders on the google.

Simply deleting or shift deleting will not help. Even if you break your harddrive in pieces , it is recoverable.

The way these shreders works is they will write some garbage data on the entire drive and then delete it and then rewrite it and delete it. A good shreder does it for some 15 - 20 times , which makes original data virtually impossible to recover.

Lost of antiviruses have inbuilt shreders too.

I have always run a weekly cleanup with CCleaner software.All you need is the built in defrag, check disk and disk cleaner.
