Can anyone recommend which P965 I should think about: the ASUS P5B or the Giga DS3 ?

I looked at 3 ASUS boards here at new egg

And I looked at 3 Gigabyte boards here

I am not concerned about wifi so I think the ASUS deluxe is out.

I'd appreciate any advice as I'm having a tough time deciding. Thanks!

And If I might add.. I'm not sure to go P965 or 650i. So I'd appreciate any input about that too. Thanks!

And I don't plan to overclock either.

Update: I"m really confused now - 965 - 650i or 680i ??? lol

The more I research the more I get confused.

People say the P965 is dated and the 650i and 680i are newer and better.

Yet some say the P965 is just as good if not better.

Am I making the right decision in getting the P965?

I don't plan to overclock my E6600 but I might, up to 3ghz. I don't know.

I don't plan to run SLI either.

*sigh*

All I want is a decent, fast mb to play games with my 8800 GTS 640k and 4 gigs of memory with vista 64bit. Is that too much to ask? lol.

ok, requirements, good mild/moderate overclocking board that will be stable yet robust. Must support 4gb and support vista 64bit. No need for SLI.

Ok, thats simple, Do you need firewire or eSATA? If yes get the P5B-E or better or the Gigabyte p35 boards. If not, any will work. Now get a coin. Heads means p965/p35, tails mean 650i.
assign the baords you like with a number between 1-6. Take out dice and throw one. Whichever one that comes up will be the board you get. The requirements you posted is supported by all the boards you're looking at. They will all do a good job. This is the objective part of the post.

Now for the subjective part. My recommendation would have to go to Gigabyte as they are very good with their drivers especially with windows vista 64bit. At least the DS3 & DQ6 boards i have had working vista drivers the first day windows Vista 64bit came out. I would look at hte P35-DS3R or the p965 DS3

Well if you dun plan to OC or use SLi then it will be a waste of money investing in a 650i or 680i, they may be newer but none are as stable as the P965 chipset. As for your choices that you have gone thru, ill personally go for the DS3
