Hi all, I connect to a local area network at my college accommodation via a wired connection currently but would like to allow my laptop to use wireless (whilst desktop remains wired to it) so I don't have to switch the ethernet cable to use each.
However I am unsure how exactly to do this. Do I buy a regular wireless router, which I then just connect to the network socket? I assume it will receive an IP address, after which I can then connect the desktop to the router with a cable and the laptop wirelessly to the router? How do address the issue of getting correct IP addresses for the laptop and desktop, do I have to turn of DHCP on the router?
Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks in advance - Ben
