I have got An ACER 5315, came with Win Vista prefixed. I installed Win Xp Pro. cahnging the BIOS to IDE mode. It runs normally. Is there any risk?, What is the difference modes?

There's no risk. It's the mode you want for IDE devices (optical drives, hard drives).
