I got the new Consumer Reports magazine for March 2005. The front
cover says, BIG-SCREEN TVs, BEST DEALS. It looks like they reviewed
many new sets along with many 2004 models.
Today we were in El Paso, Tx about 100 miles from my house. We
stopped in the south part of town to the large Computer City store to
look around. I never seen so many big screen sets lined up and down a
wall. First time I had seen the large 70" sets. One thing for sure,
no way can I afford that kind of price.
The salesman showed me a (few inch) thin 42" Panasonic that really
stood out from the others. It had a high contrast, really sharp clean
bright HD picture. It did cost lots more than other sets its size.
I forget the price, maybe $3000 or more.
I told him I was in no hurry and may wait a year then come back to see
the lower prices, I hope. I never did get back to see the direct view
sets. With so many big screen sets, I had lots of questions. Next
time i'm taking a notepad and more time.
Check out the new Consumer Reports mag. It like everything you want
to know about HDTV sets. Many listings of rated sets and recommended
sets. I think that's where I read that more manufactures are going to
the DLP's as they slow or stop production of the rear CRT projection
sets.
