When I insert a NetGear MA701 (wireless 802.11b) card into my NEC MobilePro
880 (running WinCE 2.11/2.12), the MobilePro does not even recognize the
card's presence (in System) even though I have installed the correct driver.
Similarly, NetGear's configuration utility says that the card is not
present. Could this behavior be due to the fact that I tried inserting the
card once before installing the driver?

claims that if you insert a WiFi card before installing the driver, the
WinCE computer may never recognize the card until you perform a hard reset.
Should I try that?

By the way, the NetGear MA401 PCMCIA WiFi card works nicely on the MobilePro
880 with this driver:
