i forgot my password have tried everything....there is no start menu....can i retrieve it from another computer example my desktop...or should i just buy a windows xp restore cd

i tried that but it goes to windows log in password which i forgot

Did you try the default administrator account in safe mode? That doesn't normally have a password on it, even if your personal account does.
