What do you guys think of using Tom's suggestion from his system builder article for a Q6600?

MSI P965 Platinum

I am putting together a system that will sometimes be used for video editing. I don't need fancy sound, fancy ethernet ports, RAID, onboard graphics, etc. Budget is a concern, so i'd rather not spend $200 on a board with features I don't need.

Support for DDR3 - not sure how big an improvement to performance this would give me if I upgraded in a year or so, probably not worth it.

What do you all think?

get the gigabyte p965 ds3 for 112 or if you want to maybe use the 45nm processors later then get the p35-ds3r for 130

I'd have to disagree with the 965 and suggest the P35 for this particular processor. The P35-DS3 is only a few bucks more, which is well worth it, as P35 lets the quads perform to their full potential. True, there's not tons of extra performance, but especially if you plan on ever overclocking, go for P35. There is a nice little boost in SATA RAID and RAM performance to boot.
