C:\ directory is corupt or unreadable

"The file or
directory c: is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the check disk utility." i get this message every time i want to open one of my program. i think the problem started when my mom switched off the main power supply. my ups wasn't charged at that time and my computer got its power off. what should i do to get that program back?
