So i have my desktop in my apartment at college, and i have a guest account set up for my roommate cause they like to get on and play cod sometimes when im not there. I trust them, but in case something happens or my computer should fall into the wrong hands, is there a way i can encrypt my storage hdd where i keep most of my private data so that its accessible only when im logged in as my user...or i provide a password?

Is this feature built into windows 7 or not?

TrueCrypt seems to be the way to go. Used it a few times recently and, as far as freeware goes, it gives you a lot of functionality. Encrypting the local drive and any other internal drives should be no problem, but encrypting and accessing an external drive seems like it could/should be easier.
