I have a lot of games on my c drive, i would like to move them to my external drive and be able to start from windows desktop. I am not sure how to associate the programs to start from the desktop because the games were automaticly installed into c drive

Well, it is possible, you just go to the C:\Program Files directory and copy the files to your external drive, but all the links would become broken and it would take you ages to re-link them, you're better off to back-up your save data and reinstall the games to that drive. It should ask for a directory, and if it doesn't then you might aswell have to install it to C:\
