Xp hibernates all by itself

Forum Windows XP : General Discussion Xp hibernates all by itself

I have an XP machine that hibernates all by itself randomly, when the computer is sitting there doing nothing. This only occurs when I have started up from hibernation. this is a desktop(!).

With my Dell desktop, the situation is that I hibernate every night or leave it on all night for weeks, only shutting down or restarting when I have to. This seems sometimes to cause programs to hiccup, so I submit bug reports.
I like to keep my development environment as it is.

Dell 4600 desktop(2004). power supply on the dell still seems to be running good, though I am wondering when I will need to replace with PC Power and Cooling Dell Upgrade. 19" CRT Monitor is still running too, so I am happy.
but what is going on with the hibernation?
I have 1-2-week-long uploads I need to perform. I don't want it hibernating during an upload. so far I don't remember it doing that.

Right click on desktop-->properties-->screen saver tab-->power-->hibernate tab-->uncheck box to disable hibernation.

You said it hibernates by itself. So disable hibernation and it won't.
