Hi,

For a couple of months, I have been getting dragging triangles, artifacts light flashes and rainbow checkers in WoW. It has gotten to the point where the game is unplayable. I have talked to a Blizzard Rep and the drivers he sent didn't work. My videocard is very clean and it runs cool. I think it is getting enough power but it was probably getting the same amount before this started happening.

System Specs:

AMD Anthlon x2 4400+
EVGA 7900 GT
WD Raptor 10,000 RPM 36.7 GB
2 GBs Corsair PRO XMS
Antec 550 Watt PSU
NForce4 Motherboard
Windows XP Pro

Nothing is overclocked.
Thanks.

you know, when I had that same graphics card, I had some major issues.

I would start up my computer, and I would see little artifacts of color all over my screen even during posting and windows load.

Sometimes the graphics card would shut down on me and cause my computer to crash and restart, as well as give weird tearing and artifacts all over WOW, if I could even get it to start without crashing my computer.

So I finally ditched the card, and got a new one, and even now that one is limping along. Both EVGA.

No, I am not sure what caused it. I tried driver fixes and a lot of different things. I am just as curious as you are.

Download and run 3Dmark06. If you get problems, uninstall video driver and clean with ccleaner. Install latest driver, if still faulty, RMA or replace faulty graphics card.

Mike.

Do you only get the issue when playing WoW?

I had an X850 about a year ago which over heated and damaged itself. When I would run HL2 it had the same issues you are having of triangles appearing and I know exactly what you mean by 'checker board'.

While the software was reporting the the temperature of the GPU, it was not reporting the memory temp. I RMAed it and they gave me my money back with no questions asked.

Do what Mike99 said then RMA. (If you can stand being away from WoW for a few days!)
