Jpeg read only files

I copied jpeg files to a CD... where they became 'read only' ... I want to edit the files... can I change the files to be readable/editable from the CD - or do I have to edit before copying?

You can not edit the files on the cd, you will need to copy them back to the hard drive to edit, you may need to change them from read only to read/write on the HDD before you can edit. Do this by selecting all the files and right click select properties and check status.
Actually having them all on cd in original form is not a bad thing, as it allows you to edit later without effecting the originals, so if you make a mistake you still have the original photos.
