I got myself in a bit of situation. I overclocked my AMD X2 3800 from 2000mhz to 2360mhz with 1gig stick of ddr2-533. Today, i get 1gig of ddr2-667. So my question is can i keep both ram modules in my comp without rendering the system unstable? I used gentoo-linux -> compiling a lot!, dual boot with xp for games.

I overclocked the cpu so i dropped the ddr2-533 (266) to 200. So if i leave it like that in the bios this means that the ddr2-667 (333) would run at 200, right? If it is then it's a waste!

Edit: sorry, im such a plumb. I overclock the cpu so the rams are running at 295 according to cpu-z. It's fine for the ddr2-667 but the ddr2-533 are a bit over, about 295-266=29mhz. So that is fine, right?

What should i do?

Thanks in advanced!

You can put both in but in BIOS you'll have to set them down at a compatible level, it may do it automatically but its still safer to fix them both at the same level.

yeah, i put both modules to 533 so one of them running underclock and other is 65 over. It seems that everything workds out fine, no BSOD and random crashed or anything. It all works out nicely. :D

Thanks anyway!
