Support for Vista Ends April 13, 2010

Support for XP SP2, and Windows 2000 (all versions) ends July 13, 2010

That's one to remind people about when they go on about DX10 & DX10.1 and how important they are and how a graphic card company was responsible for holding everything back.

Your conclusion is a little off... MS is discontinuing support pre-service packs. As long as you have the most current service pack, you'll still get updates from Windows update.
