That's one to remind people about when they go on about DX10 & DX10.1 and how important they are and how a graphic card company was responsible for holding everything back.

Your conclusion is a little off... MS is discontinuing support pre-service packs. As long as you have the most current service pack, you'll still get updates from Windows update.
