I am building a new computer i havent order anything wait til end of july to get started ordering parts for my new pc.

1-SAPPHIRE 100186L Radeon X1950XT 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 VIVO HDCP Video Card - $179.99

2-EVGA 320-P2-N811-AR GeForce 8800GTS 320MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Video Card - $279.99

$100 more i'd can get 8800gt but here the problem cpu, ram, mobo, psu, case, all adds up to about $925.00, my budget is around $1400.00. I have about $475.00 to spend so if i get window vista premium $120.00 and gt 8800 gts 320 mb going to cost me $1329.95 total or If I dont get window vista and 8800gts 320mb I can buy Radeon X1950XT 256MB for $180.00 add would add up $1109.95 and stick with my current window xp,$300.00 left and I can get decent lcd monitor with $300.00 .
My current is really old bought back in 2001 dell 4300 series has 17inch dell crt monitor. So what would you do if ur were me go with window vista and 8800gts or stick with windpow xp and get radeon X1950XT 256MB and nice decent lcd monitor?

you can check my other thread about my new rig i'm building.

What's the rest of the computer? How long are you planning on using it and what are you using it for?

If you don't plan on playing any DX10 games in the next year or so, I'd say go with XP and make the jump later, and then sell the X1950XT and get a GTS, or whatever is out at the time. By then, Vista won't be such a hassle, hopefully.

well i suggest you throw a fat book called graphics card for dummies on their face. (dont know if there is such a thing..but who cares). its a good competitor, but not faster.

Scrap your quad core, get an E6600 or similar after the price cuts, get the 8800 320mb GTS and get the new monitor.

If you're not getting a new monitor, just get something cheapish and wait until you can afford both a new monitor and a near top end card when the time comes.

whats is the difference between e6660 vs quad6600? i know q6600 has 8mb cach and total of 4 core. I heard E6600 better for gaming ?

Virtually no difference at this time for gaming.

Virtually no difference at this time for gaming.but in future there will be more games coming out supporting multi cores I'm right.

Yes, this is true, but you have to consider what is more imoprtant in your system, and where you are prepared to make sacrifices, and how often you will be upgrading.

At the moment, if I was buying new, I'd take a good C2D with an 8800GTS and a new monitor over a quadcore with a lower GPU and the same old crappy monitor (no disrespect).
