I have 4 Pc's that are currently connected together via a Micronet 10/100 8 port switch, then connected to a Netgear DG834GT Router to the Internet.
Due to various upgrades 3 of those PCs have Gigabit nics built in.
I am now looking for a 5 or 8 port switch to replace the Micronet.
All the cabling is Cat5 and the longest length is 6m/19ft.
I have looked at the Netgear WS605 but it seems to be a flawed design.
Has anybody tried a TP Link TL-SG1005D, Dynamode SWG50010-D, or 3Com 3CGSU05 on the 5 port Switches,
or a similar 8 port switch.
I do not want a rack mounted size and I would prefer an actively cooled switch, as heat seems to be an issue with some smaller switches (especially WS605)
So if you use any of the above or can reccomend something else?
At the moment I am leaning towards the 3coms.
My budget is upto £50. I often move 700Mb+ files from 1 PC to another.
