Tomorrow is the last day (I just found this out) for 10% off on TVs PLUS I
received a coupon in the mail for another 10% off. I ended up getting a
Mitsu WD62525 for $3475 which basically matches the cheapest price I was
able to find online. I'll get the TV on Wednesday and CAN'T WAIT!!!!

How is this great when the discount matches the lowest price.... Great (to
me anyways) would be blowing away the lowest price, not matching it...

Hate to tell you, but Sears will always match your on-line lowest
price...any day of the week. Just bring 'em a print out of the on-line
offer.
Of course, that price match will include the on-line vendor's shipping
charges too.

Hmmm... the last time I asked any retailer about price matching they would
only match prices of other retail chains not online.

Mike, what makes it "great" is the fact that you are buying from a
reputable retailer that actually services what they sell vs. some
online, "never heard of them, don't know anything about them, who's
going to perform warranty repairs (if needed)" retailer.

Another thing that makes it "great" is the fact that you are buying
from a commission salesperson who will be sweating for months after
the purchase, hoping and praying you'll be satisfied with your new
television who is willing to jump through hoops to keep it "sold" if
need be, to avoid a chargeback from the commission paid on your
purchase.

These electronics salesmen at Sears will actually go to your house and
hook up your home theater system to avoid a chargeback to their
commission. When you buy online, who's going to do that? You've
bought, it's yours, period. This guy got a great deal from a major
retailer... in fact, the ONLY major retailer that performs it's own
warranty work... PLUS he has an "ombudman" (the guy who rung him up)
to act as a 'go between' on his behalf if there are any problems.

Yeah, I'd say he got a "good deal".

IMO anytime you can walk into a retail store and buy something for the
lowest price you can find online and in my case beat it even though only by
$25 it's a great deal. You buy something online if you have a problem and
you want to return it your stuck with shipping charges and for a TV such as
this that would be $200+ or get stuck waiting weeks for someone to come out
and repair it. So I think I got a great deal and wanted to pass on the
info incase anyone else was looking for a set.

Matching online prices by retailers is pretty rare in the LA area. I'd
still buy from Sears for the reasons Terry cited.

Don't believe that, went thru this already at Sears. They DO NOT honor all
online stores.

Then you've got a rogue store, cause that IS their national policy!! Ask
for the store manager if the dweeb in electronics doesn't know the policy.

Here's their STATED policy, anyway...

If you find a lower price on an identical branded item with the same
features currently available for sale at another local retail store, Sears
will match that price plus give you 10% of the difference. Just tell your
sales associate at the time of, or within 30 days after, your purchase.

If you find a lower price (including shipping, handling and delivery) on an
identical branded item with the same features currently available for sale
and delivery in your area from a local retail store's online site, Sears
will match that total price Plus, give you 10% of the difference. Just print
the ordering page, including shipping, handling and delivery, and bring it
to your Sears store at the time of, or within 30 days after, your purchase.
If you are purchasing the item from sears.com, email the information to
order@customerservice.sears.com

Exclusions
Sears will not match competitors' bonus or free offers, special offers,
rebates, financing offers, clearance or closeout prices, or prices on used,
damaged, returned, open box or display merchandise, service contracts or
automotive services, or installation, delivery, or assembly services. Sears
will not match competitors' prices that result from a price match.

Sears Price Match Plus Policy does not apply to parts, Sears licensed
partner websites, digital services, "Sears Presents" and Shop At Home
catalogs.

Stores in Puerto Rico, Alaska and Hawaii will not match any online prices.

This has been their policy for quite some time. In fact, they do not always
even require written proof of the other price. When we bought our Sony
KDF-60XS955 from a Sears store here in Austin last October, they gave us a
price match + 10% of the difference deal based on a price that had just been
given to me verbally by a local appliance store. I had nothing in writing
to back it up. And I have read that they will sometimes match prices off
the web. I think it probably just depends on the mood of the department
manager that day.

BTW, when our TV set was 4 days later being delivered than they had
promised, they gave us another 10% off -- of the whole price.

They tell you "read the fine print". A store has be be within 50 or less
miles & they have a list of approved online stores". Went as far as
corporate & that is the answer I got.
