Hi There,

I'm new to this so be gentle! I'd like to overclock my stock e6420 to around 2.5ghz, I know its not much of an increase but as yet I only have stock cooling. Its a brand new system, as the £££ comes in I'll add better cooling to it.

I've have it running by setting FSB to 315 and changing RAM multiplier to 2 and it seemed ok but I dont understand the memory timings etc comtained in a lot of posts here so all that is left at auto. I think this may be making the system run hotter than it could, 47 degrees at idle in Bios.

Maybe someone could post there settings for similar rig or some that may work for me, obvioulsy I want to keep it as cool as poss. Also running an asus 7300gs PCI express, and kingston PC5300 667 Ram

Matt

I think it can running at 3.2Ghz even use the stock cooling.
Just watching the temperature of northbridge and southbridge, I think they are always hotter than CPU.
