I am having major problems with Windows Explorer. I get random error messages such as 880.exe has stopped working, then I say Close Program, and a Windows Explorer is restarting error message appears. These .exe numbers are random, and then I get errors such as Alps Pointing-device Driver has stopped working. I can't access anything in Control Panel or Explore for more than ten seconds.
Help! Please tell me what I have to do.

I don't believe windows explorer is your problem, it is simply affected by the underlying problem

It appears that you may have some malware resident on your pc.

Try running some scanners.

Two very good free ones are Malwarebytes Antimalware and SuperAntiSpyware.

Is the same problem if you start the PC on safe mode?

^Yeah start it in safe mode and see what happens, either your windows core is screwed up or you have an infection of some sort.

Thanks, will try both in safe mode and running the scanners. Do the scanners fix the issues or just point them out?

They will give you the option to remove malware & junk.

It is safe to clean everything they detect.

Hmm...thats a good question the scanners are "search&destroy" applications, they find the virus and kill it, however if the virus did some sort of damage or changes in the computer like messing around with your registry to OS files then the scanners will not be able to reverse anything. Thats why to be 100% virus safe is not to be able to find them but prevent them in the first place.

So any damage that's been done is irreversible?

pretty much, if the virus screwed your registry up and other things like that, its over.
