3D Modeling Program Running Slow?

Hello, I am wondering if there is anything to do to make my 3D modeling program run faster. The program is 3DS MAX and I'm currently on the trial version. Everything just seems to run slow. I know that the program requires quite a bit of power but I think my PC can handle it. I'm not sure if it runs similar to games but my computer runs Crysis 2 extreme settings at 85 fps. Is the program not utilizing all of my hardware to their fullest potential?

MSI Radeon 6970 Card for game this is different with 3Dmax/ maya.
if you want faster at 3Dmax you need Card proffessional like Nvidia Quadro FX or Ati Firepro.
and Nvidia Quadro FX faster 5x than GTX 580 in News at$169 but this Card cannot use on Game just 3D

Which rendering method are you using? I think different methods have different performance characteristics. Perhaps choosing a different one would solve your issue.
