I have problems finding out the details about the Zaurus and its
Japanese dictionary. Please have a look.
* I don't believe that the Zaurus sold in the UK contains a Japanese /
English (JE) nor a English / Japanese (EJ) dictionary and it is not
available separately, is this correct?
* What is the specification of the JE/EJ dictionary on the Japanese
version of the Zaurus? Does it support handwritten kanji/kana?
* Can the software that comes with a Japanese Zaurus work together
with an English Windows 2000/XP version?
* Does the Zaurus dictionary show furigana on the Japanese offered
after translating an English word? This is very important for a
Japanese learner, but it is never included in the electronic
dictionaries.

Hm..I think it is possible to download Japanese Rom from Sharp and
than it is very japanese. :-)

I did not know enought about this language to say yes or no, but you
can write some Hiragana and than it made one new sign from it. I think
this is Kanji.

I do not use Product from this company, but I think it can, because the
people in Japan use Windows, too. When I bought my C750 in Tokyo it was
completly japanese, but it was possible to switch to english.
There is also something with name Cacko-Rom wich is in english, but
you can also switch to japanese.

There is wajei, which uses the free edict dictionary. It is an open
source java app, and runs on many platforms. There is a Zaurus version,
but we have not been able to get to work on my boss's C860.

Native version (i.e. Japanese version) is provided with a CD-ROM that
includes the JE/EJ dictionary.

It seems that Gakken provides a software (GDBase) that is useful to create
its own dictionary (I read that in a book in a library in Tokyo).

I have a Japanese Zaurus and I use a French Windows XP version and that
works. There is only one problem, it's in Japanese ^___^
You can use AppLocale (a software from Microsoft that allows to run foreign
softwares, like Japanese softwares). However, there is a software in English
for a previous version of a Zaurus that can be used but I don't remember
where you can download it.

There is no furigana available. The dictionary is made for Japanese people
and not for gaijin (as for electronic dictionaries).
