Vista loses optical drives after sleep...mobo issue???

I did a search on this issue and found a mention of it on the Windows
Support site (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929734/en-us) which mentions a hot fix, which I did by calling MS and
having them email me a file to install on my system. I also did the
registry tweak also mentioned on the MS support site. Neither of
these "fixes" work. After a reboot my optical drives are recognized
by the OS and work fine...it's just after the system sleeps that the
are not in "my computer" or my "device manager".

Could this be a motherboard issue? I think not as MS knows about it, but since nothing else fixed it I thought I'd ask.

Thanks!

Its a Vista problem. Lost mine weeks ago. I found this:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/320553

I deleted all the "LowerFilters" and "UpperFilters" and rebooted and no more problems

Hope this is your Problem.

I did not find those registry data entries under the key described in the MS article so I did a registry search and found them, then deleted them. I have to double check my system to see if my drives are found, but this morning they were there (although it has happened before where I see them after a "wake up" then they disappear again).

Anyway, after my registry tweak my system seems to be a little slower in launching programs and reading emails.

Thanks!
