Connecting Laptop to LCD monitor, no image on neither

Hello,
When i connect my laptop (HP Pavilion Dvc notebook, Windows Vista) to my LCD monitor using HDMI cables, there's no image on my laptop nor on the LCD flat screen. Display Settings did n't help. Please reply how to fix this problem

Hello: If you can't seem to get the image to show
(which is unlikely if you've plugged the cable in correctly), the problem
is probably in the cable. The most common problems people face with
properly connected, working cables has to do with things like resolution
and aspect ratio
