Crashes that look like shock waves

Hello,
Had a new computer built, only 4 weeks old. Don't know what is causing this,either gigabyte motherboard or HHD, but it's getting worse. Anytime I open certain programs and go to open another window this happens. I run enhancemse7en and got this message. [read error rate. Disscription: Indicates the rate of hardware read errors occur when reading data from a disk surface. Any number indicates a problem with either disk or read/write heads]. Don't know if that's what causing the problem. The screen looks like a serious shock wave hit it and then needs to get rebooted to eliminate the problem. Please help

is the HDD making any unusual noises?

download the diagnostic utility from the HDD manufacturer and check the HDD.

Post a picture of the screen, not sure what you are describing here. That error does sound like a hard drive issue, but not sure what you mean about the screen.
