Yes I know it sounds like book passing but for once it's quite true.I bought him the laptop in July 2008 and asked him to not forget to do backup discs in case of problems but I guess he hasn't.

Without a trace of sarcasm I can say that I am sorry that I bothered. Enough of this - I have better things to do with my time than bother with an ungrateful soul.
Linriz: Please I am not trying to offend here, however can we put our tender sensitivities aside? I seriously do need some assistance. Is there an answer to fixing my acer x1200 vista OS with no boot disk...since fn 10 doesn't work...or does anyone know where I can a download via the internet....or does anyone have one to share...?
