Hiya,

I just installed a new motherboard and it doesnt want to boot up. I turn on the computer, and I hear the "beep" which means everything is ok. Then it just hangs. Sometimes it manages to check the RAM, sometimes it stops before then.

Any ideas what might be wrong?

Thanks.

Sounds like a problem i had with one of my PCs. It would struggle to start like yours. I checked both the RAM sticks that where in it and they showed up as fine. After swapping out the sticks (tried about six different 512 Meg ones in it) it would boot ok everytime. The board, some cheap PC Chips cheapo thing was very choosy about which stick it liked, even when using identical make and model.
So my advice is to try different sticks if you have access to any more than the ones you are using in it.
Seeing as You are getting the OK beep everything else should be fine and it's failing while using the RAM it could turn out to be same problem as i had.

Hiya,

I swapped the RAM out of DIMM slots 1&2 and put them into slots 3&4 and now it's working perfectly.

Thanks!
